Record your games: the new SkillXGames recorder

Every game now has a ● Record button. Pick where the clip will go, play, stop, and download or share a video that already fits the platform.

What it does

The recorder films the game you are playing, not your whole screen. It crops to the game, places it in a clean SkillXGames frame with the game's title on top and skillxgames.com underneath, and saves a video sized for the network you picked before you started.

It is built for the clips people actually post: a perfect run, a close call, a funny wrong answer, a new best score. No editing app needed between the game and your feed.

How to record, step by step

1 · Open a game
Any game on SkillXGames. Next to Full screen you'll find ● Record.
2 · Pick the network
TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, the Instagram or Facebook feed, YouTube, X or LinkedIn. That choice sets the shape of the video.
3 · Share this tab
Your browser asks what to show: pick this tab, and leave tab audio on if you want the game's sound.
4 · Play
A 3-2-1 countdown, then REC with a timer. Play as usual.
5 · Stop
Press Stop, or let the recording end by itself at the time limit.
6 · Keep it
Watch the preview, then Download the video, or Share it straight to your apps where your device allows it. Or Discard and try again.

The formats

The shape is chosen before you record, so the video already fits. Every clip is recorded in 720p and lasts up to one minute.

TikTok
Vertical 9:16 · 720×1280
Instagram Reels
Vertical 9:16 · 720×1280
YouTube Shorts

Square 1:1 · 720×720, or portrait 4:5 · 720×900
YouTube, X, LinkedIn
Landscape 16:9 · 1280×720

Private by design

Your clip is assembled frame by frame in your browser and never leaves your device unless you send it somewhere. SkillXGames doesn't upload, store or watch your videos. We only count that a recording happened and which format was picked, never what's in it.

The browser asks for your permission every time, and you can stop sharing at any moment from its own bar: the recording ends cleanly and you keep what you filmed.

Where it works

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera
On a computer: records. Recent Chrome and Edge save MP4, the format every network takes.
Firefox, Safari
On a computer they can only share a whole screen or window, so the recorder isn't offered there. Use Chrome or Edge, or your computer's screen recorder.
Phones and tablets
Mobile browsers can't film a single tab. Use your phone's built-in screen recorder, then trim the clip in your gallery.

Why we built it

Players kept filming their screens with their phones to show a score. The recorder makes that clip clean, framed and ready in one go, and every shared clip shows where the game lives, so friends can play it too.

Frequently asked questions

Is the recorder free?

Yes. Recording is free on every game, with no account needed, and nothing to install.

Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. The video is made inside your own browser and stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded to SkillXGames, and we never see, store or share your clips.

Why does my browser ask what to share?

Recording a page always needs your permission. Pick this tab: the recorder then crops to the game only, so your other tabs and apps are never filmed.

How long can a clip be?

Up to one minute. The timer shows how much is left and the recording stops by itself at the limit.

Is the game's sound included?

Yes, if you leave "Share tab audio" on when your browser asks. Turn it off for a silent clip.

Why did I get a WebM file instead of MP4?

Some browsers can only save WebM. A recent Chrome or Edge saves MP4, which every network accepts. Most apps also take WebM, or a free converter turns it into MP4.

Can I record on my phone?

Not with the recorder: mobile browsers can't film a single tab. Your phone's own screen recorder works well, then trim the clip before posting.
