Memory Match: free online card-pairs game, rules and tips
Flip tiles, find every pair and beat your best time in as few moves as possible.
What is Memory Match?
The classic pairs game, rebuilt for quick breaks: face-down cards hide pairs of Zip and the gang and the places of SkillxTube. Turn them two at a time and remember where everything is.
Memory Match is the game also known as Concentration, Pairs or Pexeso: you turn cards over two at a time until every pair is found. On SkillXGames it comes with a timer and a move counter, so every round is a small race against your own best.
A round takes two to four minutes, which makes it a good warm-up for the brain before work, a break between two tasks or a quick game on your phone.

How to play
- Pick a level
- Beginner (8 pairs), Intermediate (12) or Hard (18): each pair is a piece of SkillxTube.
- Flip
- Flip any two cards to reveal what's on them.
- Match
- Find a pair and it stays face up. Miss and both cards flip back.
- Race
- Clear the board in as few moves and as little time as you can.
Scoring
There are no points: your result is the number of moves and the time it took to clear the board.
Three levels: Beginner (8 pairs), Intermediate (12) and Hard (18). Each found pair shows what that piece of SkillxTube is.
What it trains
- Visual memory
- Remembering where each card was after a single look.
- Focus
- Keeping track of a board that grows with each level.
- SkillxTube
- Meeting Zip and the gang and the places of SkillxTube along the way.
Strategy and tips
- Explore first
- Early on, flip cards you have never seen rather than guessing. Every new card is information you will use later.
- Strike on the second sight
- When a symbol shows up for the second time, go straight for its partner while you still remember where it is.
- Use rows and columns
- Remember positions as coordinates (top row, third card) instead of a vague picture of the board.
- Say it in your head
- Naming a symbol silently ("star, top left") makes it much easier to recall than just looking at it.
- Aim for the minimum
- A perfect game takes 8 moves. Most good rounds land between 12 and 18: track your moves and beat them.
Why play Memory Match?
Memory Match trains short-term visual memory: holding several positions in mind at once and updating them as the board changes. It also rewards attention, since a single distraction makes you lose a card you had already seen.
It is easy for children to pick up and still a real challenge for adults who chase a low move count and a fast time.
